President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have both tested positive for COVID-19. The announcement was made by Trump himself on Twitter last night.

The First Lady also confirmed her diagnosis shortly after her husband.

Concerns about the President’s health were first raised after senior White House staffer Hope Hicks was diagnosed with COVID-19 just hours before the Trumps. In fact, it was the President himself who announced her test results on Twitter, just two hours before finding out about and making public his own results.

Many of his political opponents including Joe Biden and Kamala Harris showed civility and grace and wished the couple a quick recovery.

However, in what is probably a sign of his popularity or the lack of it, Trump’s tweet announcing his positive diagnosis for COVID-19 became his most liked tweet, garnering close to a million likes in mere hours! Some of the reactions to his illness were openly hostile and, as some could argue, in poor taste.
