President Donald Trump has just announced that he is leaving the Walter Reed Medical Center and heading back to the White House later today. He took to Twitter saying, “I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 P.M. Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life. We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge. I feel better than I did 20 years ago!”
After Trump announced that he and the First Lady had been diagnosed with Covid-19 on Thursday night, the President was taken to Walter Reed hospital on Friday. He was reportedly administered various antiviral drug treatments including Remdesivir and Dexamethasone during his stay.
Speaking to media persons Trump’s physician Dr Sean Conley said, “Over the past 24 hours, the President has continued to improve. He has met or exceeded all standard hospital discharge criteria.” He added, “He’ll get another dose of Remdesevir here today and then we plan to get him home.”
Offering further updates on Trump’s health, Dr Conley said “It’s been over 72 hours since his last fever. Oxygen levels including ambulatory saturations and his work of breathing are all normal.” Dr Conley added, “Though he may not be completely out of the woods yet, the team and I agree that all our evaluations, and most importantly, his clinical status, support the President’s safe return home, where he will be surrounded by world-class medical care 24×7.”
Meanwhile, Twitterati wasted no time in lampooning Trump for his announcement of a return to the White House, even as #TrumpCovidHoax started trending:
Trump’s return comes at a time when multiple White House staffers including Hope Hicks, Kayleigh McEnany, Kellyanne Conway, Chad Gilmartin, Karoline Leavitt, Nicholas Luna, and possibly two members of the domestic staff have been diagnosed with Covid-19. Ivanka and Jared Kushner tested negative for the virus this morning.
,Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany, who tested positive just this morning, has been receiving flak for not only refusing to wear a mask during her press briefings but also allegedly putting at risk the health of news reporters with whom she came into contact over the last few days. She issued the following statement:
